Outreach to the Philippines, March 2008 – CDTS Iasi 2007/2008
With a thankful heart we look back to the last few months and how God provided the finances in a miraculous way for our team’s four weeks mission outreach to the Philippines. We received donations from various organizations, personal friends and most exciting was that different Romanian churches from the region of Moldova supported us in prayer and financially. In fact, approx. 80% of our financial needs were met by Romanian resources! We want to say “thank you very much” to everyone who has been part of this outreach time!
What did we do?
Our first two weeks we spent at YWAM Balut in Manila. The missionaries there are ministering to thousands of people who make a living of the city’s garbage dump site, known as the Smokey Mountain. We supported them in helping with the Elementary, High School and College Ministry. Joined the TB Ministry in doing bible studies, helping with the feeding program and praying for the sick people.
Two afternoons we had a medical and prayer outreach in a slum area near Manila’s port with a doctor, a nurse and a pastor of our team.
For the next part of our time in the Philippines we were able to be part of the Tribal Ministry of YWAM Palawan. Bringing the Good News to tribal people by sharing the Gospel and testimonies, doing children and feeding programs.
We were all touched by the extreme friendliness of the Philippino people, their helpfulness and showing of so much love and respect. There is so much to learn from them. Even in hard times they are still smiling and full of hope!
We praise God for His provision and protection for this unique opportunity to be the first DTS team from Romania in the Philippines!
